Now you know the facts about the effects of these drugs, come on this course to learn some skills for talking to people who may be using these substances, give them simple advice and encourage them to use specialist services
Provides underpinning knowledge towards the following DANOS units:
AH10 Employ techniques to help individuals to adopt sensible drinking behaviour
AA1 Recognise indications of substance misuse andrefer individuals to specialists
AD1 Raise awareness about substances, their use and effects

You don’t have to be a specialist drug worker to reduce the harm that drugs can cause. This course will give you some simple techniques for engaging with drug and alcohol users. It includes some tips on how to avoid getting into arguments, how to raise the issue of substance use and how to encourage drug users to seek specialist support. Note this course assumes you have a reasonable knowledge of drug effects – it is the perfect compliment to any one of the DrugTrain "Understanding" courses.

- Engaging the motivation of individuals to change their substance use or use specialist services
