lines of mephedrone and white powder spelling out mephedroneWe are offering this course as a result of numerous requests from our colleagues, working in both adult and young people’s services. The drug scene in the UK has and is continuing to change, with evidence of increasing use of ‘legal highs’.

The Government has controlled some former ‘legal highs’ such as BZP (Benzylpiperazine) and related piperazines, and  synthetic  cannabinoids under MDA in December 2009. From 16th April 2010, Mephedrone has been a Class B  drug. So the 'Legal Highs' name for this course is sort of getting a bit out dated. However, the legal highs phenomenom will not go away and people still need to know about those substances that have been made illegal as well as those such as NRG that are still legal - for now.

There is limited information currently available relating to 'legal highs', in terms of long term effects but we feel it is vital that workers have access to what we do know. It is also important to consider how to approach working with 'legal high' users in the face of limited evidence.

This course is suitable for people working with young people or adults.
