2-Day Alcohol Awareness and Brief Interventions Training
Doncaster has considerably higher rates of alcohol-related hospital admissions than the national average. Certain patterns of drinking, particularly binge drinking, put the health of people in Doncaster at risk, as well as being linked to problems of anti-social behaviour.
The good news is, that the vast majority of people can be helped to adopt a safer approach to drinking without specialist help, if given a structured brief intervention around their drinking. This course will help you develop the skills to offer this kind of brief intervention.
The course is suitable for all those who would like to contribute to reducing hazardous drinking. All you need is an open mind, a willingness to learn and be good at listening to people. It will provide you with an understanding of the health impacts of current drinking patterns in Doncaster, as well as providing you with the skills to offer evidence based brief advice to hazardous drinkers. To ensure you don’t get out of your depth we will also explain when and how to refer harmful drinkers to specialist services in Doncaster.
